NEET-PG & FMGE

1. What is the difference between NEET-PG and FMGE?

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, Post Graduate or NEET-PG is the eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses under ambit of Post Graduate Medical Regulations notified by Medical Council of India with approval of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) screening test is for Indian Nationals with Foreign Medical Qualification who wish to get provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council.

  • Maiden NEET-PG shall be held online during 23rd November - 6th December 2012
  • FMGE is held twice a year as decided by the National Board of Examinations

3. What do these exams consist of?

NEET-PG - This exam consists of one paper of 3 hours 15 minutes duration containing 240 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) . NEET-PG will be a computer based test (CBT). single correct response questions in English language only. Each answer with correct response shall be awarded one marks. No marks will be deducted for each wrong response.

FMGE is divided into two parts of 150 questions each with time allocation of 150 minutes for each part. There is a scheduled break between the two parts. The exam consists 300 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of single response type in the paper. There is NO negative marking. An applicant shall be declared as having passed only if he/she obtains a minimum of 50% of marks in the examination.

JEE Main, hitherto known as AIEEE, is the qualifying exam for admission to NITs, IIITs, DTU, Delhi and other CFTIs, with 40% weightage (suitably normalised) to class XII (or equivalent examination) or other qualifying examination marks and 60% to the performance in JEE Main Examination.

The JEE ADVANCE (Coming soon to IndiaQBank) is the qualifying exam for admission to IITs, IIT BHU and ISM Dhanbad. Only 1,50,000 of the top rankers in JEE Main, which includes students from all categories (GE, OBC (NCL), SC and ST) will be eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced)-2013 (hitherto known as IIT-JEE)
